TO ALLEVIATE WIDESPREAD MISCONCEPTIONS
Campaign for Safer Alternatives (CASA) is a Pan-African, non-profit organization committed to advancing evidence-based strategies that support the transition to a 100% smoke-free Africa.
Our work emphasizes promoting scientifically validated and innovative methods for tobacco-smoking cessation. While strongly aligned with and supporting broader tobacco control efforts across the continent, especially the cessation and treatment provisions outlined in Article 14 of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), CASA offers a platform to advocate for a full range of cessation and harm-reduction strategies.
These include behavioral counseling, approved nicotine-replacement therapies (NRTs), and evidence-informed harm-reduction products that offer substantially lower risk compared to combustible tobacco. Through this integrated approach, we aim to expand access to effective cessation support and accelerate progress toward reducing the health burden of smoking in Africa.
